In Response To: Bernhard Strauss (John Denton)

: However, if we maintain the theory that
: the player took part in the Onicis 492 war, that would make Strauss at
: least 300 years old by the time the Marathon was launched. Either people
: live a lot longer in the future, or he spent a lot of time on ice.

But then that might explain Strauss' involvement with Durandal. Traxus VI crashed only 6 years after the war between Icarus and Thermopylae. Strauss was working on bringing the ressurected Traxus to a state of controlled rampancy well before the launch of the Marathon in 2472, when he went into stasis for the journey, and no indication has been given that he was operating with UESG approval. Indeed, the fact that an AI who's failure was so notorious that it was being cited in scholarly documents over a century later (James B. Miller, 2320, "Life and Death of Intelligence") was being given responsibility over the lives of hundreds of colonists would most certainly have been kept as secret as possible by the UESC/UESG. So how did Strauss know about Durandals past? Was he there at the time?
