I think the image below should lend something to the discussion. The artist (MacLees? Bernal?) evidently knows some stuff we don't. These are M2 terminal pics that seem to show the S'pht in their original form, just after the Pfhor conquest of Lh'owon. Check the right image. Looks like the red patch at the front of the cranial form would be a single eye, and would correspond to the placement of the "jewel" on the Compiler. Given that, you could then assume that any semblance of a 'head', esp. on M1 Compilers, is completely artificial. Thus validating the presumption that the Compilers were made to look that way by the Pfhor. Notice, also, that the robe and shoulder-cusps on the Enforcers would seem to sustain my idea that the Compilers are Enforcer underlings. Perhaps the original S'pht reminded the Pfhor too much of F'lickta... Makes me think that there's tons of backstory in somebody's (Jason's? Greg's?) closet. Maybe someday... Holy Guacamole.
