In Response To: Re: a doubtful conjecture (darky)

: Well of course it's unlikely that there is any solid evidence, but much of
: the story page seems to be speculation.

Very True

: Anyway, it's worth noting that there is no proof of the W'rcancnter
: actually exists, I remember in Infinity it says "we have seen nothing
: to account for the horror."

Actually, we've discussed that a lot here. I, too, was confused by this statement, but it's a reflection of the fact that we were able to successfully contain the nova and prevent the W'rcancnter's release. In at least 3 or possibly 4 alternate timelines, we witnessed the release of the W'rcancnter and the destruction that it wraught. We personally experienced this in the 3 Aye Mak Sicur variant secret levels in Infinity.

: If the star had gone nova then maybe no mythical being would be
: released, but Durandal would surely be destroyed (right?). This
: would tip the scales towards Tycho, leaving a lone Rampant AI to
: wonder through the computer network of the largest empire in the
: galaxy unchallenged.

But that's not what happened. For a good read on the events after the W'rcancnter's release, check out the Volunteers Series on the Story page. Specifically, take a look at the threads for Aie Mak Sicur, Carroll Street Station and You're Wormfood, Dude. The one thing that I'll grant you is that there is no mention of Tycho in any of these levels, but it still seems doubtful that he is the W'rcancnter that laid waste to the universe.
