In Response To: Re: a doubtful conjecture (Steve Levinson)

: Now, going back to the Marathon trilogy, if we can find even one instance
: where Tycho and the W'rcancnter are separate entities, we will have proof
: that your conjecture is false. Unfortunately, I can't think of any
: offhand, but that still isn't proof that your conjecture is true. You
: might be able to show that they are the same with 95% certainty if you can
: find a "smoking gun" - something that can put them in the same
: place at the same time, but that still isn't 100% proof. For that you
: would need to witness that they are the same entity - an event you
: probably wouldn't survive.

: You have an interesting hypothesis, but you have a lot more work cut out if
: you want substantial proof that it is true.

Well of course it's unlikely that there is any solid evidence, but much of the story page seems to be speculation.

Anyway, it's worth noting that there is no proof of the W'rcancnter actually exists, I remember in Infinity it says "we have seen nothing to account for the horror."

If the star had gone nova then maybe no mythical being would be released, but Durandal would surely be destroyed (right?). This would tip the scales towards Tycho, leaving a lone Rampant AI to wonder through the computer network of the largest empire in the galaxy unchallenged.
