You can play them without any patches - just drop them into your AO folder and select the appropriate physics, sounds, shapes and map files. The reason that the standard version of AO won't work if dropped into the TI or Evil folders is that the unpatched version of AO, as does Infinity, looks for "Physics", "Sounds", "Images", "Shapes" and "Map", and can't find the needed files under those names. M1A1 gets around this by using MML to tell AO what files to look for, but you can patch any version of AO *or* Infinity to work with any file names using ResEdit and opening the appropriate Str resources.
Some TC's don't work with AO, however, because other game parameters have been modified. A good example of this is Ph'Joueur, which won't let you insert your chip without the patch. I think that I tried Erodrome and it didn't work with AO, so there is something else in the game that has been modified. Beer Can, if you want to save yourself the $25, go to InfoMac and look up a utility called ResCompare that will compare all of the resources in Erodrome with those in Infinity. You can then more than copy over the ones that have been modified in Erodrome to a copy of AO using ResEdit, which should give you a patched version that will run Erodrome. ResCompare, BTW, is shareware, so maybe you should send a portion of that $25 to the author if it works for you (and the rest of us).
