Actually it's from concept art as far as I know. http://halostory.bungie.org/images/infected.pfhor.jpg

Though I do seem to be wrong about the statues as they look more geometric in the original graphics, as PerseusSpartacus pointed out. I mostly use the HD ones these days, with the original ones on the iOS ports.
