Jumping ahead to the end of the first Marathon; in my AU, Durandal's reason for taking Vincent with him wasn't simply to have an extra pair of hands. Like in Before Crisis, horrible mistakes are made.

Contains bonus foreshadowing of a certain fourth shipboard AI (man, remember those old Halo theories?).
