I suppose that's true. In my defense, I was speculating based on my limited knowledge of 21st century examples of militant splinter factions.

A prequel would have been interesting, but it probably would have been forced to make radical departures from the previous Marathon's gameplay. If I wasn't a toddler when Marathon was being made, I'd have bought a book about the the tumultuous, back-stabbing politics of Sol during the early twenty-fourth century.
