And not all sociopathy births shortsightedness. That's usually the delusionally manic, by definition, whose dilemma results from a failure to be mindful of their surroundings, so to speak. Not that you necessarily connected that with Strauss, but AFAIK there wasn't any reason to think that Strauss' failure to control Durandal was the result of poor planning. He probably simply had not anticipated the possibility of Durandal discovering the Pfhor and using them as a way out.
