it often does. the mp40 was designed in 1938 but was produced starting in 1940. in fact an mp38 would've been an even better choice come to think of it.

the stg44 was made in 1944, the ak47 was made in 1947, etc.

the guns having anachronistic names doesn't affect gameplay, but it irks me, especially in a game that put alot of effort into story and atmosphere.
