Interesting to note is that the prophets introduced in Halo 2 actually got to their position through dodgy means as depicted in the (actually canon) book Halo: contact Harvest, and they find out from the remains of Mendicant Bias in High Charity's dreadnaught that the Marathon glyphs on their Luminary scanners that they thought were Forerunner relics are actually Reclaimers (humans) as the Covenant read the Marathon logo upside down.

The three San-Shyum realise that humanity are the forerunners' favourites (except for the Ur-Didact), not San-Shyum and Sangheli (Elites). If word got out that their religion was bogus, there would be chaos in the Covenant so the prophets made up the "humans blasphemous" thing to cover up the truth. Ironic, considering the ring leader of the three before they got their titles became the prophet of Truth.
