Yeah if you find yourself having saved with not enough health to sink to the lavabed, you may as well find yourself starting back. I've managed that on a couple of occasions, and especially the Enforcer towards the end of the path and the S'pht thereafter make things quite difficult. The terminal never mentioned "fall off the path".
