: had to work for every level. That meant they had four slots for the S'pht,
: two regular, two invisible. That left them with no room for free S'pht
: allies, as that would require increasing the number of monster slots,
: which may not have been possible, or at least not worth the effort.

Didn't Marathon 1 use a map flag to handle that? I think it was called the Rebellion flag. Did that flag get reused for something else on Marathon 2? It's been forever since I've done any mapmaking, and Googling for "Rebellion flag" just turns up Civil War stuff.
