Went back to view the film again and yes he stands inside the doorway of the secret room when he takes his shots. So he didn't cross the SuperGlue poly. In fact, he isn't even on it. So the SuperGlue is blocking the sound of the shots and since the Alien Leader doesn't activate you can shoot with impunity, provided you have spot on accuracy and don't hit the two Enforcers on either side.
And how many pistol shots does it take to kill the Alien Leader on Total Carnage? You get one guess. =)
It's a nice Vid tip. Not sure what advantage this gives you other than not wasting your Alien Weapon. At some point you must activate the aliens down below.
