In Response To: Re: Marathon vs. Doom Engine Specifics (treellama) : Unfortunately, some amount of modification is still necessary to play
Extracting the hidden game info hacked in the app, and pulling out the data from it's resource fork with ResEdit, should not be much of an issue, and converting the music to .ogg just requires a Mac with QuickTime Musical Instruments installed (as it still is on my old Mac Clone). : For many TCs this is not a problem, but the author of Trojan was very clear
I much prefer the attitude of most modern mod author's to that of the old school mod authors back in the day. These days, with very few exceptions, today's mod authors understand the fluid collaborative nature of the Internet, and offer up their works to be freely shared with proper attribution of their original source. Back in the day, when there was scarcely, by modern standards, anything resembling an Internet, and there was nothing resembling today's open source revolution, mod authors held on to their works as tightly and as dearly as if they were holding onto their own testicles. Times change, as do customs and attitudes, and hopefully, when that change can be demonstrated to be mostly positive, we can all change along with them.
