: : Well I for one would like to see this. Indeed, I would be more interested
: in
: The only places in Halo like this that I can think of are on The Library
: and Assault on the Control Room . There's a few shafts, particularly a
: central one, that you can hop down to. Not sure if it's possible to
: survive the fall to the bottom of the elevator shafts, but there is a
: short article on reaching the bottom of the central one. I would assume
: there is no way back out once you're down there, making it kind of a
: suicide trap.
: If you do a bridge descent on Assault on the Control Room (which is much
: easier using PAL Xbox than NTSC or PC), you can steal a Banshee later on
: and use it to get to high places. If you happen to knock the Banshee off,
: it becomes kind of a suicide trap. You don't really even need to do a
: bridge descent. You can steal a Banshee from just before the two-Wraith
: area, or, if you're fast enough, from the rock bridge in the final third
: of the level. No matter how you get your Banshee, there are certainly ways
: to put yourself into a suicide trap.
True, but I think what Hamish meant was situations where just making a mistake, or failing to execute a required move during the normal course of gameplay results in a situation where suicide is required (even when it's impossible). Halo has relatively few of those-- the AotCR ones you mention require actions Bungie did not anticipate, like Banshee stealing, and they break all sorts of things in the campaign play.
