In Response To: Re: Tour of Duty - Defend THIS! *LONG* (Godot) : What canon should or should not be preserved? Now that's a good debate. :) Speaking of preserving canon, time for a status update! Aleph One's SVN trunk can now read the original Marathon maps, shapes, physics and sound files. MML extracted by Hopper from the original assembly code(!) allows devices, platforms, and scenery to work correctly. Monsters work fine, but Marathon-specific map features like glue triggers and superglue don't work yet. Weapons sort of work but the pistol feels like it fires too fast, and the fusion pistol goes away as soon as you try to equip it. Much work needed there. Terminals don't work yet. They're included in the Marathon application itself, so it will be tricky to get them working. The HUD only works with M1A1 Enhanced HUD or Marathon Classic HUD, and it may only ever work that way. And after all that's working, we still have to peruse HS's M1A1 notes, and find the 1000s of things that aren't working right. But in the end, once it's done, nobody will have to do it again. Marathon forever!
