In Response To: Re: Tour of Duty - Defend THIS! *LONG* (Godot) : Hey you are playing with the latest version of M1A1. Congratulations. ;)
Yup. Downloaded it recently, along with the complete Marathon 2: Durandal experience. I must say, I liked the changes for M1A1. As for M2, I have a few major gripes. Most of these, however, have to do with the XBLA graphics, so no real big deal. : You are right, the three switches work in M1A1. I believe it was a limitation
Then why not find some way to add back in Leela's forgotten comments? After all, those are, for the most part, the results of game limitations. : While it is strictly non-canon to have all three work it's one of those
Yeah, I guess you are right. Still, it is probably a bit annoying for hard-core Marathoners who want to exactly relive the original Marathon experience. Speaking of lava/goo damage, I found that the goo areas on the Pfhor levels (particularly on 'Two Times Two Equals...') will hurt the player even if we jump right over them. Taking it from your perspective, this seems totally wrong. While the original Marathon may have had the same problem (on account of a total lack of the concept of liquids), if you're going to fix that other stuff, why not fix this? It's an even more glaring issue that literally everyone will notice. : Of course you could take this to the extreme and start fixing the open
Ah, good old crunch time. ;) : Unraveling the ball of thread that is M1A1 would be a mammoth task. Better to
If only there was some tool that could read the original M1 assets and reformat them into something that Aleph One can handle. Of course, that would leave out recorded games, including the plethora of great recordings that can be found here. Will Jason Jones' achievements ever be brought to life for those of us who play M1A1? Vale,
