They're supposedly extinct because they aren't interfering with humanity and the Pfhor. In fact, my bet is that they're still alive--but not in our galaxy. May or may not have something to do with the W'rkncacnter threat. Of course, we'll never know will we :P

See the part about the Jjaro arriving to dispatch the Dreaming God in 1994. Also remember how the Covenant found the Forerunner tech--by accident. Humanity probably got some that way too, on Mars or Luna or something.

I like to believe so. I find the Security Officer = Sgt Eddings really hard to believe. I mean, why would they go to such efforts to keep his body alive for like 700 years @_@
