Does the Red King dream you? *LINK*

Hello Marathoners. I think I found something of relevance to Marathon's Story.

I was browsing Wikipedia pages recently and found a quote from Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking-Glass" that immediately reminded me of what I had read on the story pages...

(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_argument)

"In Lewis Carrol's Through the Looking-Glass, Alice finds the Red King asleep in the grass; Tweedledum and Tweedledee tell her that the Red King is dreaming about her, and that if he were to wake up she would 'go out--bang!--just like a candle.'"

When I read "go out--bang!--just like a candle" I instantly thought "The colony has been wiped out. Phhht! Just like that." (from http://marathon.bungie.org/story/colony.html and http://marathon.bungie.org/story/tryagain.html)

Given the theme of Am I Dreaming? and the very special circumstances surrounding the colony message, it seems to me more than a coincidence.

A longer transcript of Alice's and the Tweedles' exchange can be found at:

http://paleotrope.wordpress.com/2006/09/13/solipsism-and-other-minds/

The great thing about that webpage is that it comes with an essay on Solipsism ('all that surrounds me is not reality'), whether reality is a dream, and solutions to these problems. I think it's a good read for all fans of surreal literature, dreaming cyborgs and even dreaming gods (who may dream you).

Thoughts?
