: One of these years, I'd love to fly down south from my Canadian fortress and
: visit other Bungie fans. I've known some people for close to five years
: online - meeting in person in a Bungie-friendly environment would be cool.
: Lasers, strobe lights, and some announcment of Halo 3 wouldn't hurt the
: atmosphere either. ;)
As far as I know, fanfests are only held at E3 nowadays. If they're even still happening. It used to be real *fan* fests, that Miguel and Claude et al organized, and which Bungie eventually got behind. Now, as I understand it, it's mostly a Bungie-organized thing. But I'm not much in the loop anymore so don't take my word for it.
And E3 could really do with less lasers and strobe lights and some volume regulations on the booths. Makes someone with ADD like me just zone out from the whole thing, and honestly, how many hardcore gamers who go into that industry probably had/have ADD? I'd wager a lot. The spectacle seems largely self-defeating; just a deafening roar and blinding light everywhere.
