(Regarding a report that Bungie approached Apple before the Microsoft buyout)
: True. That was hilarious.
Oof. Talk about your missed opportunities... though I really don't see myself getting a second computer (remember, I'm one of those Lost and Damned PC users) to play a PC Halo sequel the way I did get an Xbox for the console sequel.
You never know, though.
: Nah. The game had already changed significantly by that point, and would have
: changed further regardless of who was signing the checks. The biggest
: change - the one the naysayers harped on about the most, at any rate - was
: the switch from third-person to first-person, and that happened long
: before the MS deal.
It'd be nice to have an RTT in the Halo universe, which lends itself to a tactical game much more readily than Marathon did... but I can definitely see why the move from 3PS to FPS happened.
-- Steve's making no knocks against Oni, having not played it yet, but FPS Halo just feels right. (As FPS Marathon does, too.)
