Internal technological retconning - do you?

Before I do a Seven Minute Marathon Infinity, I decided to try my hand at playing Marathon Infinity again.
Something got me thinking. When you're playing a Marathon game, do you internally/mentally give Durandal, Thoth, etc voices? Or do you play it as the fact that the Security Officer never *hears* anything from these people, only text on a terminal?
Personally, I've always assumed that, unless its an obvious text-only message, the Security Officer hears a Durandal voice, a fleeting image of a face, etc etc.
What about you?
