Well, Marathon's MIDI files, once you extract them, are encapsulated in QuickTime files.

As much as I would expect an Apple media program to store all its data encapsulated in QuickTime, historially the iApps don't. iMovie clips aren't just raw DV data in QT files, they're in their own special iMovie encapsulation. Chances, are, GarageBand does the same thing.

(Encapsulation = the file format around the data. It's all MIDI data one way or another, same as raw DV data is raw DV data one way or the other, but the file it's wrapped up in can be different).
