: Lately it's been on. I posted an update to the site recently, showing
: off some new developments in a video (working shields!)
OMG! I don't want you guys to spoil any secrets, but how did you do it? I didn't think Halo-style player shields were possible in Marathon, short of using an actual weapon to do it, like in RED or in the older versions of Eternal.
: After reading rampancy's review I wanted to respond. There are a lot of
: features in Halo that Marathon simply was not designed for. Aleph One,
: despite all of its improvements still does not have everything we need to
: do everything that Halo does.
I didn't by any means intend to rag on you guys for the limitations so far in Halathon. I think you guys should be really commended for pulling off something like this. I really wasn't expecting much, and I came away very much impressed. It's a pity that you can't do the Needler or the Sniper Rifle -- but that should hopefully free up weapon slots to enable you to implement melee attacks for the other weapons, right?
My only serious problem is the HUD -- I assume that you designed the HUD with monitor resolutions greater than 1024 x 768 in mind? I've tried switching resolutions and the HUD is still a confused jumble on the screen; sometimes all I get is the weapons manifest, and other times I get fragments of the motion sensor and the weapon charge/ammo displays.
Keep up the great work, guys!
