I'm fairly sure no one sells it anymore except that it's included in Bungie's Action Sack, which is nearing its end. There isn't an M2A1 or something of that sort, so you would need a legitimate copy of Marathon 2, as I have, in order to play. Aleph One isn't actually all that complicated, just read the instructions and it should work.
Oh, and to answer the question, yeah, original Marathon 2 (the PC version obviously) will run on XP. It doesn't look as shiny as it would in Aleph One using 1024x1024 texutres, though.
