It depends on on it's phase properties - i.e. the interrelationship among solid, liquid and gas phases based on temperature and pressure. As zero pressure, water exists in only the solid and gasseous phases. There are plenty of materials where this is not the case. I think we can surmise that lava can coexist with vacuum since we know it happens on Io, Jupiter's largest moon. However, you do bring up an interesting point - liquid water cannot exist in a vacuum, as it seems to on Caroll Street Station. So that's 2 strikes against Bungie today. |
