Rhetorical question? AO runs on OS X and Windows. New scenarios like Beyond Aurora, Eternal, and WMaiD require AO. And it can be played online.

Improving? Some things are better than Infinity, some are worse, some are just different. Since people download AO in order to play the Marathon of legend, different is bad. (That has nothing to do with Beyond Aurora.)

Maybe when M:R is out, people can develop envelope-pushing Marathon games for that (with ingame scripting and 3D models), and the engine that runs Infinity will go back to being a symbol of endless low-end (now online) gaming. Whatever.
