Well, there is an active thread on it here: http://forums.bungie.org/story/?read=32810
There have been a few minor Marathon parallels, but nothing serious enough to really engage the audience here... especially with the release of Eternal. (Well done, Forrest! A pity I can't see it yet, but perhaps it's for the best as I still haven't finished M1A1 yet.)
There is a dedicated forum for discussing it... can't recall the URL right now but it's something like unfiction.org. I'm a new member there and trying to both catch up and catch others up with Bungie lore.
