Hello All,
When drawing fleet movements in church the other day (what better place?) on a dry erase board - questions on strong solar winds emerged.
Everyone knows the kind: They protected Earth's location from the Pfhor. However:
-Where to they originate from? The star inside the system of question, or from another star system? Would they block off just one system, or do these winds flow around/past many systems - effectively blocking off entire sectors of the galaxy?
-How do these solar winds limit space travel or communication around the region(s) in question?
I presume strong solar winds would deter / block radio signals (explaining why Humanity didn't know of the Nebulons/Nar/Vyale/S'pht/Pfhor before the UESC Marathons encounter).
I may be wrong about this.
-How does Strong solar winds limit sensor scans or travel into these regions in general? I guess this opens up the question of what space travel method do the Pfhor / UESC fleets predominantly use?
"Folding" in and out of a system is routinely used to describe Durandal's FTL traveling... what sort of hyperspace/distortion travel does the Mara-verse use?
Thanks everyone. Also: A planet must have at least an Earth-range orbit to avoid being reduced to an Venus or Mercury-style planet, yes?
Regards,
-Blayne [ernie]
