In my opinion, you wouldn't be able to travel past the time of your death, because, well, by the act of getting inside that Magical Time Device, you would be removing yourself from the affairs of the present, right? The way I'm thinking of it is as if you were flash frozen today and unthawed 3000 years later. Anyone watch Futurama? I'm thinking of something like that.

Who knows, maybe later that day, you were going to be walking on a bridge that collapses, but now you've changed (I hate the word) destiny. Unless your Magical Time Device is something that travels through other dimensions and/or universes (spelling?) I doubt that one would be able to go into the future and be a mourner at one's own funeral.

I'm no smart person :) but even I should be able to get...to...say something.....smart.... every now and then, even if it short

Keep in mind that what I said does not count for anamolies such as having your brain transplanted into a super-human cyborg, such as ours truly. Which would pretty much in theory allow you to travel past your death.
