M1 Enforcer weapon on M2 Enforcer?

During my stay in my hometown, and away from my WMaiD map work... I tend to have crazy ideas. Not origional ones in this case, mind you - but interesting none the less.

Is there any marathon cannon that would prohibit the M2 / M:inf, M:Rubicon style of Pfhor Enforcer from reverting to the weapon type carried by the species of Enforcer in M1?

After browsing/plundering the M1 shape file for source material... I keep going back to that gooish weapon. Somehow, I think it would be far more interesting for an Pfhor Battle group's Enforcer class to be using that weapon in WMaiD. Perhaps in conjunction with the Rubicon incinerator-style weapon...
Thoughts?
