Remember, Fobo, that not everyone can run Aleph one with high res textures.
It's simple, many macintosh users or Marathon players does not have the money to afford the last Mac computer available in store, that's my opinion on it.
Aleph one rendering engine is plain old crap, play any over detailed Aleph only maps and you will understand, it will slow down too much, making the game much less enjoyable. I can't put Yota saga as an exemple since the maps where not too over detailed, some of the maps caused major slowdown, but not all.
Adding high-res 512X512 textures would make thing worst, so i think that you should stick with the Infinity engine limitation. BUT, if you're really willing to make an Aleph one version, then for god sake, reduce the size of those textures, or else it will run too sloooowwww.
So, i think you should release one Eternal version for Infinity, and then one for Aleph one.
That's what i'll probably do with Portal of Sigma.
