In Response To: Re: A poll (Steve Levinson)

: Many people don't know how to optimize AO to play on a slower computer. By
: turning off OpenGL, reducing the color depth and the sound quality, AO can
: run on any computer. Unfortunately, it does not run as well on my Beige
: G3, but then nothing does anymore. I understand from Speaker-to-Animals
: that there is a problem with software rendering that should be easy to fix
: - now someone needs to fix it.

So my understanding so far as far as Infinity Lite & Aleph Extended vs Aleph Lite & Aleph Extended:

UltimaTofu doesn't care, just wants Aleph Extended.
Simon thinks Infinity, but implies that an Aleph Lite would be OK.
Goran doesn't seem to understand the issue but implies akin to Simon.
D-MA votes Aleph
Steve votes Aleph
Yoss thinks UltimateFurisbee has a cool name.
and Ernie needs an Infinity version, pretty pretty please!

So that looks to me like a vote of three Alephs, one Infinity, two neutrals, and an abstain.

Maybe I should clarify the issue a bit...

I AM releasing TWO VERSIONS of Eternal.

ONE of them, to be released last of all, is an Aleph One version with all the bells and whistles, high-res textures, music, etc etc etc.

The OTHER one, only has all of your standard normal Marathon stuff,
BUT - and here is what the poll is about - will be done EITHER:

1) Using the Infinity app with ResEditing and Fuxing and all the hassles with CLUTs in the Shapes file
OR
2) Using Aleph One and basic MML, and some low-resolution texture replacement to avoid CLUTs.

And the question here is, will doing 2), which is easier, keep a lotof people from being able to play Eternal?
