Actually Mark, that is not true for M1. It is true for M2/M-Inf. I have a quick vid film of "Pfhor Your Eyes Only" where I do not actually step on one of the "Must be explored" polys, but just gaze at it from far down the hallway. The level allows me to teleport out even though it is designated "Exploration". This is one of the few levels of M1 that you can trick the engine into showing the teleportation during a film.
