In Response To: In reguards to the 'Volunteers' posts (Crimson)

The fact that we're doing this Volunteers series at all proves that RED's highlights greatly outweigh its flaws :)

What I remember most fondly about first playing RED is how new and different it was, both from other Marathon scenarios and even from other first-person shooters. There are some things in there that I've still never seen done anywhere else. Man, this really takes me back to the heyday of B.org HL... I still have one of the custom RED images you made in my wallpaper rotation (the colorized version of the splash screen, the red-only chapter 1 image being unfortunately lost during one of my surprisingly frequent accidental hard disk erasures).

I know that people move on, and I'm glad that Mac Hall took off the way it did, and I understand completely if you're no longer proud of your early work (I feel the same way about the awful Hypercard games I used to upload to AOL- please nobody take that as a challenge...) But yeah, sometimes I miss the old days :P

I've always felt that one of the highest forms of praise one can give an artist is to want to experience their work again and again, without repetition and familiarity dulling it in any way. I found that in the original games, and I found it in RED.

(As for the zip... that sounds really cool. Especially if you still have that all-red chapter 1 image anywhere :) )
