Ian,
I'm sure that Mark will have something to say soon, but I just wanted to say how awed by Red I am now that I'm actually good enough to play it. I've not always been kind to Red in my comments in the forum, but with the exception of a few nearly impossible areas, Red really kicks ass. Even though it's easier to vid your own scenario, I'm still amazed that you were able to do it. There are some places where I don't see how anyone could do it - just ask John Sumner.
Anyway, Red has a great story and some really outstanding carnage. Great level layouts, cool tricks - I can't wait to hear more about the upcoming change of weapons in the volunteers posts. I don't know how you pulled that one off - I think that damn few do, since I've never seen another scenario to pull this off. And there are a number of other firsts - things I attributed to others until I saw them in Red playing this time through.
Please feel free to respond to some of our questions in the posts to date. Looking forward to your comments in the future. When we're done, would you mind if we compiled a list of potential bugs and problem spots. I wouldn't want you to change Red into something else, but I think that with a few very minor tweaks, it could be much more playable by the masses without being less difficult to those who enjoy a challenge. I did this myself for Ben Potter's Fell and I think that his scenario will be much improved if he ever gets to his promised v. 3.0, if I should live so long (a real issue for us old folks - the Battle Cat, John Sumner and myself so far as I know).
P.S. A long time ago we chose some 3rd party scenarios that were the best in a particular area. I don't remember which scenarios we picked, but I know that Red was suggested for it's unique weapons switch - the biggest "wow" factor I think we called it. I would like to propose Red for another honor - the best 3rd party sprites using the Infinity engine. Hands down. Great job!
