In Response To: Re: It's a MADD, MADD, MADD, MADD, World (D-M.A.) : I actually have my desktop picture switch between the marine standing
Which Mullins piece? Thanks to everyone who's responded to the last couple of pieces. I appreciate the feedback. For reference, this is the last "finished" version of the Counterattack piece. It was intended for use as a Chapter screen in M1A1, so it's more of a collage of elements from those levels than it is a standalone painting. I decided to rotate the head because the flat profile looked a bit stiff and awkward, and took a bit away from the sense of action I was trying to get in the rest of the figure. The Marine is shot from slightly above, so having a flat profile head meant that his head was turned right and slightly tilted up, which just made no sense. Sure was easier to paint that way though ;) One thing I do like it the cropping on the Marine... showing some of the legs makes it clear that he's not just standing there. I also sort of globally desaturated the piece and gave it a more sepia-toned look, just like I did with the Try Again piece. It fits the mood I think. JF |
