In the M1 manual there is a mention of the hero imagining the face Durandal might have (ugly SOB),m but the only time we see any kind of "face" is on the M1 "Durandal" chapter screen, along with the namesake sword and a circuit box.

I assume that the AIs could have had holographic images, much like Halo's Cortana, but we never see or hear of any such thing...
