: Hey, I would just like to know where and/or how I can obtain marathon music,
: if possible. I really want to make them mp3s on my iTunes.
: Ahhh... The music is just great. Whatever happened to that in the following
: Marathons? Ambient sounds fucking suck (pardon my french).
The Marathon 1 CD has regular AIFF CD quality sound tracks that is not the funky sounding MIDI music that plays in the background of the game. You can open the M1 CD in iTunes (it plays just like a normal music CD) and convert these to MP3 using iTunes. The Marathon 1 CD music rules. I just played it yesterday on my CD player.
I prefer the ambient sounds to the music, I thought it was a step up myself, but that's just one cat's opinion. ZPC did an outstanding job of replacing ambient sounds with music tracks. Perhaps you could try converting the Marathon music to system sounds and using ResEdit to plug them into the resources where the ambient sounds are. It would make the game file huge but it would be a great personal project on your own computer for a guy like you who hates the ambient sounds.
