MARATHON = and != HALO

M and H are not in parallel universes but in the same universe, only in a different ...uh...release.
The idea is than a universe starts (big bang) and ends (as per Durandal's forecast) and then it just starts again, repeating the same stoy again and again for the eternity (infinity?).
After the Marathon Universe took place, it closed according to Durandal's plan. Then there has been a new big bang and a new "release" of the universe (call it Universe 2.0 :-)).
Only, this time something went wrong. Somebody (durandal? Cortana? I don't know) altered things igniting slight changes in universe 2.0, modifying the story.
And there you happen to have different evolution of things, having the facts of Halo instead of having once again the facts of Marathon repeating.
