The IMG cover is a mostly-square image, and they needed to fill that space above which is cut off in your screenshot. So, they probably took another screenshot looking up (and/or by jumping in Vulcan), and stitched the two together. The logo and fighter would hide a lot of potential seams, but that left edge is visible all the way down. So, they probably cut the lower shot where the low ceiling ends, and replaced the entire upper wall with the one from their second picture.
As you point out, there are other texture differences between the cover and the preview, but that particular alignment was probably done with photo editing rather than level editing.
