A roomful of Oozes is bad enough : without SUDDEN CLAW ATTACK FROM BEHIND. : I think my expedition is going to come to a triumphant failure, but not yet, : since it's possible to do very well once...but the Wraiths, Spheres, : Skitters, Ghasts, and Greater Nightmares are going to have something to : say about it the second time round. I've already pointlessly deferred : punishment (I didn't get the bomb to avoid what now seems to be about 40 : damage), so I am still going to blow those potions and see if I can no-hit : OKWEWS once, and then have a good time watching the damage ratio come back : down to saner levels. At least I still have a buttload of blue potions, so : outright survival won't be too much of a worry. Having just gone through the twelve waves of madness using an old saved game I share your soon to be realized pain. The last level is tough, particularly since one mistake sends you back to the start. And I wasn't even trying a no-damage run. Anyway, because I got through Jason's little nightmare I can confirm (without a shadow of a doubt) that the Black Crystal will not work on Barney or the Green Oozes if you try to go back down. Since there are no death shapes for the Black Crystal's effect on any monster I wondered whether it might have been possible to turn Barney to stone (greyed out). Nope. Nor the Green Oozes, whose more milder cousins freeze at the merest sight of its awesomeness. ;) If it had worked on the Green Oozes it would have been possible to petrify them in the corridors and walk through them. No need to poison yourself. Only in PID can you turn something into stone and then walk through it. :) One c.s.m.g. post stated that the Black Crystal does not work on the Big Blue Meanie. But that can only be verified by cheating. Cheers Hamish
