Alien Pipes effect?

Came across this odd thread on comp.sys.mac.games (Jan'94)

At the end, Ron Hunsinger describes how he used the Alien Pipes on Barney on Warning: Earthquake Zone. He says it definitely has some effect.

Very odd. Anyone want to test this?

Do the Alien Pipes open that locked door? Now that would be something.
