totally right; I had been misrembering this. Still, the trick would be to get to the M79 without leaning too much on the MP41. Also also, bullet damage seems to vary as a function of distance from target, making it harder to avoid missing a shot after death on full auto... 100% accuracy is a difficult beast to tame.
