To answer your question, I don't think there is any way to get to the center of the Labyrinth without encountering Electrical Spheres. The main problem with this level is that it resets itself every time you leave and come back so you can never work out the path of least resistance. You start anew each time. The Spheres also appear at random and often at the most inopportune times. Since you have the Hints Book you know the trick to deal with those that spring up behind you. It's also mentioned on the PID page.
I can't remember if the Blue crystal works on the Spheres. If it does freeze them, they may just block your route which won't help. If you don't need the Violet crystal to get through the last level you could always leave it and get it on your way out with the help of some of those potions you find later on. I'm thinking of the Red and Pale Violet potions (assuming you still have some left). The Black crystal might also help as well.
