In Response To: Treell Ama (poenadare)

: Look I know you live under a rock and are actually a genetic hybrid that
: suckles a brood of killer children at the same time coding and watch pr0n.

You are misinformed! I'm a cybernetic hybrid.

: If someone was to re-publish Marathon, trying to stay as faithful as possible
: to the story, and add a few improvements, and add a FEW RPG-like elements,
: what would you like to see added?

In my vision of Marathon Trail, if you run low on food you can stop to hunt Chockisens.

Really, though, I don't want anybody to re-publish Marathon and add a few RPG elements. I want them to publish a new game with a new story. Of all people, shouldn't you be above a "Here's what I want from Marathon PFHOUR!" thread? I'll continue to participate but as if that's the route you're going instead.

: For example: A point in the plot that should have been expanded upon.

I'm sure they taste like chicken. Or do they?

: A technology or interface bit that modern games use that Marathon could
: benefit from. (besides Real 3D)

I have a lot of trouble with new games. Combos, stealth, sandboxes. Vehicles. Giving orders. Nano armor. Too complicated! I can handle a couple triggers, moving and aiming, changing weapons/spells, even an action key. Caps lock for run, though, I'm a codemaster not a vidmaster. I don't want to deal with social status or notoriety: too much like real life.

I guess that means I'm saying your new game with new story shouldn't do anything new? In order to appeal to the burgeoning curmudgeon demographic? No, there must be a better recipe.

: An RPG element you enjoyed in another game.

I think I liked Diablo II because I could play it like a shooter: hot key two spells, and run around with the triggers held down until everything was dead. Plus, loot!

I like RPG-FPS games like Deus Ex and Bioshock, because the controls are simple, but you can do a lot with the world. Simple controls, decent gameplay, some semblance of a story, and a very well-crafted and memorable world. There's your recipe. Just like Marathon :)

: A beautifully bronzed Dutch masseuse in any one of three genders.

I guess I don't hate *everything*!
