Was the cyborg really born on Mars?

As the cyborg is heading to the Marathon he dreams about his childhood on Mars and his father, but the question is did he really have a life on Mars? Throughout Marathon there are things that are not what they seem.
Durandal later mentions your father. How does he know? Perhaps the memories of his father and his life on Mars were just implanted memories. And infact belong to someone else and are not yours at all. Did Durandal have apart of play in this implantation process? He seems to know more about the cyborg then the cyborg does of himself.
The Cyborg at the beginning of the game believes he is a normal human being. As we all know these cyborgs were created from dead soldiers. The Cyborg does not know he has been killed in the past, which comes to the conclusion that his past life up to the point in getting killed has been forgotten to him (does not necessary mean erased from his brain forever). So since he does not remember that then the memories of his life on mars perhaps are fakes.
What we do know about his past is that he was a soldier before he died and was resurrected as a cyborg. That im sure is one of the reasons why he is such a skilled fighter, taking the skills he has learned in the past. But what military was he apart of? Perhaps he was a UESC soldier and was stationed on Mars.
Who killed him anyway? Was his death planned? Perhaps the UESC purposely killed him to make him a cyborg. How ironic.
OR
Maybe he was apart of the US Military in the late 20th century and helped save the planet from monsters. If that was the case then in Marathon Infinity, it was not the 1st time he had to stop a W'rkncacnter from unleashing its destruction.
So was he really born on Mars? Or maybe Earth?
