Microsoft is a company that makes money by selling software. It makes sense for them to think about things like "extending the Halo brand," especially since it's one of their few breakout successes. They bought Bungie so they'd have someone knowledgeable to worry about the creative end.

Maybe you are just talking out your ass here with no actual evidence to support your conspiracy theory.
