Neato; the system volume behavior always bothered me. And that's true, but I figured that SDL caught the signal on its own and did its cleanup internally... but, really, when I think about it, how useful would that be if the application couldn't hook into it in any way?
If I were a developer for AlephOne, I would display a warning dialog if the frequency were set improperly, and then initialize the sound anyway.
Or I would have it at least not fill the screen with black and then hang, forcing me to kill the process remotely. I dunno if that's an issue that touches more than just NIBs, but it's pretty irritating. Force Quitting the application rather than hitting 'Ok' when I'm presented with the -2004 error seems to be the only way to avoid that.
